I've been working on a series of original paintings for my store. Some more abstract than others. I hope to get my originals section of the store open in the next month or two but it's been busy lately. This piece is fairly small at 9"x12" and I have some ideas for a much larger piece in this same vein that I hope I can get to sooner rather than later.

SD Comic-Con 2009!

LAST MINUTE NOTICE...

I will be at this year's San Diego Comic-Con on Wednesday preview night, as well as Thursday and Friday (July 22, 23 & 24).

I'll be hanging out at RED WINDOW's booth #4800 where Scott Morse will have a very limited amount of our Ancient Book of Sex & Science for sale! (it's sold out except for the small amount of books that Scott saved for the Con so if you haven't got one yet you better hit that booth first!).

YUKI-7 Prints For SALE!
I'll have some prints of my Yuki-7 artwork for sale at the amazing FLEET STREET SCANDAL's booth #1316. There is a very limited amount of these prints too so get them while they're hot! There will be a large print of the raw painting (12"x15") and a smaller print (8"x10") of the painting with the pulp novel graphics. You might also find me hanging around this booth too.

And while you are there definitely pick up the new book Seductive Espionage by Kevin Dart and Ada Cole. This book is a must! Fleet Street Scandal is the amazing Chris Turnham and Kevin Dart.

Ancient Book Show!

The Ancient Book of Sex & Science art show and book release was last weekend and there was a great turn out. I had a great time, and thank you to everyone at Nucleus for the work you did hosting it. Thank you to everyone that came down to the show, it was great meeting all of you.

While I was down for the show I checked out the Marc Davis gallery exhibit at the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale. I highly recommend going to see this if you can. I was blown away!

The gallery show and book release for the Ancient Book of Sex & Science is this Saturday May 16th at Gallery Nucleus at 7:00pm.

The Ancient Book of Sex & Science books are here (250 copies of the total book run made it here on the "fast boat"). Only about 220 copies will be for sale at the Nucleus Gallery show this Saturday so I suggest getting there on time if you want a book.

New Icon

The Ancient Book of Sex & Science is off at the printers and I'm busy wrapping up some extra pieces for the show. In the mean time I made a new shank pile blog icon for iPhones and iPod Touches. Old icons will update automatically by tapping on them and letting the page load.

Yuki 7!

I'm thrilled to have been included in the amazing new book coming from Kevin Dart about his character Yuki 7. What I've seen of the book is incredible and I can't wait to get my hands on it! There will be a gallery show and book release party at Gallery Nucleus on July 3rd at 7pm. The book is going to include some guest art and my contribution to the book is this faux pulp fiction cover

I was inspired by the Harvey exhibition at the Cartoon Art Museum.
I used to have hundreds of Richie Rich comics as a kid, though this is the first time I've tried drawing him. I gave him a tiny bit of a gut in the drawing on the right. Those cocktails can pack on the pounds!

Maxfield's

Went to Maxfield's (aka The Pied Piper) in the city on sunday. It's pretty cool in there though they served my whiskey sour in a wine glass (???)

The book will again be by Lou Romano, Scott Morse, Nate Wragg, and myself. The prints are on high quality fine art paper and will run $50 for all four images. These images won't appear in the book but are exclusive to this print set!

This year Scott Morse will be selling a limited edition print set to promote our next book The Ancient Book of Sex and Science. (Scott Morse, Lou Romano, Nate Wragg, and myself) That book won't be for sale until next year's con so we put together a nice set of 8x10 prints. More on that soon!

I won't be at this year's con (I'll be in Tahoe with my lovely wife and adorable new daughter celebrating our 2 year anniversary!) but besides the print set I decided to do some drawings and give them to Scott to peddle at his table. (he doesn't even know this yet ;-D hehe) I haven't settled on price yet, but it'll be something CHEAP like $40 or $50!

Here's the first, warts and all. Let's see how many I can do by monday... seriously i'm so busy, this might be the only one haha!

Frilly Doodle

Well, I'm back at work now and I'm trying to clear off my desk. I came across this frilly doodle I did in a meeting. Sometimes I just draw what people say and in this case someone was talking about schedule dates.

New Fine Art Project!

Here's my latest work of fine art. It was my first collaboration with my wife. Technically I just supplied half the designs while she did the other half and all the construction work. I think the project turned out great! We call her Chloé.
